State Street

Commercial- Law Office- Custom Desk and Casework

Lead Designer and Project Manager
May 2026
Financial District, Manhattan
When an interior designer I've worked on several projects with over the years reached out about One State Street, a downtown Manhattan law office, the objective was clear- allow the focal point of the room to be additive to the intention of the space.

For a lawyer using his corner office as both a personal workspace and a collaborative meeting place for clients and colleagues, that intention was to cultivate an atmosphere of confidence above all else. This starts with how he presents himself in the room, and extends to what the space offers those seated across from him- which was the job of the room's centerpiece to support. The proposed palette for the accent wall our built-in would be up against, geometric navy linework on a slightly off-white background, was balanced with the softness of a subtle canvas-textured grey, allowing for the double-sided desk to react with a statement of confidence. Dark truffle wood with a waterfall edge, bold enough to reinforce the intent without overcompensating for it.
